Tom Bean moved past Dodd City, 10-0, for its 10th win in a row and improved to 11-1, 8-0 on the season.
Cash Linder made easy work of the Hornets on a night when conditions were a challenge. Gusty winds and cold temps changed the Tomcats' approach. While Linder racked up 11 Ks and allowed just one hit, the Tom Bean offense took advantage of 13 walks and played small ball to push across 10 runs on just 2 hits.
Donnie Hooten walked with one out in the bottom of the first inning, stole second and third, and Linder scored him on an infield single to shortstop. Linder then stole second, moved to third on a wild pitch, and Cain Pearson scored him on a ground out to third to give Tom Bean a 2-0 lead.
The Tomcats loaded the bases in the third after Hooten and Linder walked and Keaton Reed was hit by a pitch. Another walk to Pearson and a bunt base hit by Cody Luelf gave Tom Bean a 4-0 lead. The Tomcats scored 8 runs in the inning and Linder took care of the rest in a shortened game due to run rule.
Tom Bean continues district play on Tuesday with Whitewright at home at 6:30 PM.
