Last week, Tomcat Football played Tioga. On Thursday night, the Middle School team faced a challenging match against the Tioga Bulldogs, ultimately falling 44-14. Despite the score, there were several standout performances that showcased the heart and determination of our players. Defensively, the Tomcats were led by Joseph Valle, who made an impressive impact with three tackles for loss. Brayden Cooper also contributed significantly, helping to anchor the defense. Carsen Buchanan and Andrew Bondiek joined in the effort, each adding a sack to the mix, underscoring the team’s defensive capabilities despite the tough outing. On offense, Levi Grisolia and Cameron Burgess were key players, leading our rushing attack and keeping the Bulldogs on their toes. However, the night’s MVP was undoubtedly Holden Farris. Farris electrified the crowd with not one, but two spectacular kickoff returns. His first was an 88-yard sprint that featured a dazzling spin move, leaving defenders in the dust. The second return was from 71 yards, as he skillfully found a crease and raced down the sideline, igniting the Tomcat crowd. With these returns, Farris has now recorded three kickoff return touchdowns in just two weeks—a remarkable feat!

To wrap up Thursday night, the Junior Varsity team would also play Tioga at home. Tioga would prove to be a tough challenge and the Tomcats would fall 24-0. The defense, led by Jake Burgess, made some great tackles for loss, showing promise despite the final score. Cain Pearson took the reins for the Tomcat offense this week, demonstrating leadership and skill as the team worked to find its rhythm.

In the varsity matchup on Friday, the Tomcats struggled against the Tioga Bulldogs, falling 56-12. Bobby Rogers emerged as a standout on offense, scoring a rushing touchdown that highlighted his physicality and determination. Donnie Hooten connected with Garret Kelly for another touchdown, providing a bright spot in an otherwise challenging game. Defensively, Garret Kelly led the charge with double-digit tackles, with solid support from Bobby Rogers and Dallas Peavey, both of whom made significant contributions.

As the Tomcats regroup, they look forward to bouncing back this week. The Middle School and Junior Varsity teams will be traveling to Alvord on Thursday and then the Varsity will host the Bulldogs on Friday. Your support can make a difference as we aim to turn the tide and showcase the talent and tenacity of our Tomcat players.
