The Tom Bean Tomcats improved to 2–0 Friday night with a gritty 21–20 road win over the Chisum Mustangs in Paris, Texas. The game was called at halftime due to weather, but not before the Tomcats showcased both explosive offense and stingy defense.
Offensively, the Tomcats racked up 405 total yards, led by QB Donnie Hooten, who went 23/28 for 300 yards and 1 touchdown through the air, adding 75 rushing yards and another score. Dyson Farris hauled in 5 passes for 90 yards and a TD. Camden Stephens brought in 9 receptions for a team high 112 yards and Brayden Bomar had 5 catches for 58 yards keeping the chains moving. On the ground, Dallas Peavey punched in a 30 yard rushing score.
Defensively, the Tomcats allowed just 36 rushing yards on 16 carries and forced two key interceptions. Tatum Hanson led with 7 tackles, a TFL, and a pick, while Brayden Bomar added 6 tackles, a tackle for loss, an interception, and a blocked PAT kick. Dallas Peavey, Slayton Farris, Brayden Yowell, and Anthony Secreto each made impact plays to help secure a win.
The difference maker came on special teams, where Brayden Bomar blocked a PAT, sealing the Tomcats’ one-point edge before the skies ended the game early.
