TOM BEAN ADVANCES TO AREA ROUND WITH DOMINANT 38–12 BI-DISTRICT WIN OVER BANGS
Under the bright lights of Pirate Stadium in Granbury Texas, and with playoff energy in the air, the Tom Bean Tomcats delivered a powerful postseason statement, taking down the Bangs Dragons 38 – 12 in the Bi-District Round of the UIL Texas State Football Playoffs. It was a complete team performance with offense, defense, and special teams working together as Tom Bean played with poise, resilience, and a unified mindset.
The Tomcat offense was relentless all night, stacking up 371 total yards and finding the end zone five times. Quarterback Donnie Hooten was the catalyst, putting together one of the sharpest performances of his season. Hooten finished 25-of-34 passing for 370 yards and four touchdowns, adding another score on the ground. His receivers delivered in a major way as Camden Stephens led the way with 9 receptions, 177 yards, and 2 TDs. Brayden Bomar brought in 10 receptions for 93 yards and 1 TD. Dyson Farris had 5 receptions for 93 yards and 1 TD while his younger brother Slayton Farris added 1 reception for 7 yards and 4 carries for 13 yards.
Every drive seemed to feature a different Tomcat stepping up, and explosive plays kept the offense in rhythm from start to finish.
If the offense was impressive, the defense was downright commanding. The Tomcats held Bangs to 243 rushing yards, but zero passing yards, shutting down the Dragons’ air attack entirely. The defensive unit forced four turnovers, recorded 5 tackles for loss, and allowed only 12 points in the entire game. Several Tomcats had standout nights but Jacob Lind led the team with 14 tackles and Tatum Hanson added 10 tackles. Dallas Peavey stuffed the stat sheet with 9 tackles, 3 TFLs, 1 QB pressure, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery. Carter Mayo contributed 9 tackles, 1 TFL, and a QB pressure. Viktor Georgeff posted 9 tackles. Brayden Bomar made huge momentum plays with 9 tackles, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, 1 pass breakup, and 1 interception. Chase Stratton and Cain Pearson each added 4 tackles. Maguire Poole delivered 3 tackles, 1 pass breakup, and a team sparking interception and Brayden Yowell added 3 tackles, 1 TFL, and 1 sack.
The defense stepped up in every big moment, stuffing drives, forcing turnovers, and shutting down the Dragons’ passing game completely. It was a statement performance on a playoff stage.
