The stage was set and the atmosphere was electric as the Tomcats took the field in Cumby. The offense orchestrated a brilliant performance, with multiple players finding the end zone and scoring touchdowns that had the crowd on their feet. After receiving an onside kick to open up the game, the Tomcat offense took the field on the 48 yard line lead by their quarterback, Bobby Rogers. Facing a 0-0 scoreboard, Bobby would explode out of the backfield and take the Tomcats first offensive play of the season all the way to the house for a 52 yard rushing touchdown. Within the next few minutes, Bobby Rogers would connect with Collin Cherry on a 19 yard pass and then Hagen Darney would rush 18 yards to make it 21-0 Tomcats at the end of the first quarter. Within the second quarter, the Tomcats found the end zone two more times. Garrett Kelly caught a 47 yard pass from Rogers, and Darney would rush for 24 yards for his second touchdown of the night. The Tomcats offense wasn't quite as explosive in the second half but Braylin Barrett found himself in the end zone after rushing 79 yards on the quarterback keeper. Throughout the game, the Tomcats kicker Daniel Ruiz-Gonzales would go 6-7 on extra point attempts.

The Tomcat's defense was equally impressive, which shone brightly by forcing Cumby into multiple three and outs, fumbles, and interceptions. In the first quarter, Maguire Poole was able to put his hat on the ball and forced the Trojans into their first fumble of the night. A few series later, Brody Pearson broke on a deep pass with under a minute to go in the first and picked off the Cumby quarterback on their own sideline. The very next series, Hagen Darney set the edge and forced yet another fumble that resulted in the Tomcats regaining possession. As a unit, this defense exhibited a relentless pursuit of the ball all night and was able to keep Cumby out of the end zone the entire first half. Coming out in the second half, Ethan Halpain forced the Trojans to fumble and Garrett Kelly was right there for the scoop and score. This would put the Tomcats up 40-0. The tenacity of the defense held Cumby out of the end zone until the 4:00 minute mark in the third quarter. The night would be capped by a Daniel Ruiz-Gonzales interception that would lead the Tomcats to kneeling and watching the clock hit zero. For the Tomcat defense, Bobby Rogers lead the way with 13 tackles, and was followed by Dallas Peavey who had 7 tackles and 2 sacks.

The Tomcats look to build off of this victory as they host Howe next Friday, September 1. The game will kickoff at 7:30pm.
