Their offense was led by Tru Weems, who powered through the opposing defense with two impressive rushing touchdowns. Cameron Burgess also made a spectacular 70-yard touchdown run, showcasing the team's offensive prowess.
On the defensive side, Owen Shaver was a standout player with three key tackles for loss, disrupting the opponent's plays and thwarting their progress. Zachary Chitwood contributed with multiple tackles for loss, and the defensive unit, as a whole, demonstrated exceptional teamwork and discipline. While Noah Gray anchored the defense at Mike linebacker, and the Orange Team's defense held their opponents scoreless, reflecting their remarkable performance.
The Black Team delivered a commanding performance in their game, sealing a resounding 32-0 victory. Yovani Ruiz-Gonzalez emerged as the game's Overall MVP, contributing both offensively and defensively. He scored two crucial touchdowns on the ground including a 56 yard house call, and made multiple open-field tackles on defense, displaying incredible versatility.
Offensively, Paxton Parrish, Slayton Farris, and Jake Burgess all played significant roles, contributing to the scoreboard. Parrish scored the opening points of the game with a QB sneak. Farris added a 30 yard touchdown on the ground while also throwing a touchdown to Burgess in the back of the endzone. Burgess’ touchdown ended the first half and gave the Tomcats a commanding 3 score lead. The Black Team showcased a well-rounded offensive attack that kept the opposing defense on their toes.
Defensively, Jacob Lind's game-changing stop on a critical 4th down was a pivotal moment in the game. Carter Mayo was a force to be reckoned with, tallying an impressive four tackles for loss. Alex Watson also proved to be unblockable on kickoff with multiple tackles to pin the eagles deep in their territory. The Black Team's defense displayed exceptional teamwork, preventing the opponent from scoring a single point and securing a shutout victory.
Both the Orange and Black Teams demonstrated outstanding teamwork and individual performances in their respective games, resulting in convincing victories. Both teams are excited at the opportunity to move to 3-0 against the Leonard Tigers next week in Leonard.
