The Tomcats traveled to Tioga on October 6 for their district opener. Although they were able to move the ball effectively at times, costly penalties and mistakes in crucial moments of the game cost the offense the opportunity to put points on the board. However, the Tomcats came out of the half with some fight and after marching the field, Bobby Rogers was able to rush in for the only score of the game. Garrett Kelly would walk away with a good night at receiver, both blocking and catching. On the defensive end, Brody Pearson would pick off the Tioga offense to kill their first drive of the game. Drake Franzeo created chaos up front but despite his best efforts, Tioga’s ground attack would keep them moving through the game and allow them to convert 4 of their drives into touchdowns. These factors combined resulted in a 33-6 loss, putting the Tomcats record at 3-3. Although the game didn’t end in the Tomcats favor, they plan to learn from their mistakes and work towards improvement in the week to come.

Their next game will be against our neighbors down the road in Whitewright. The Highway 11 Showdown is a much anticipated matchup that will surely excite! Kickoff will be at 7:30 in Tiger Stadium.
