As the final whistle blew Friday night, it marked the end of an exhilarating football season for our team, and what a way to finish it! In our last game of the year, we faced off against Trenton in a high-stakes battle that showcased our determination and resilience. With a final score of 27-0 in our favor, we closed the season with a resounding victory and a sense of optimism for the future. But before we kicked it off, we took a moment to celebrate and honor our Seniors: Branson Ashlock, Clay Richter, Damien Sanchez, & Mckay Young.

After kicking it off, our defense set the tone right from the start, forcing Trenton into a three-and-out on their first series. This would set the stage for the Tomcats as they were successful throughout all three phases of the game.

Our offense took the field and embarked on an impressive 11-play drive, marching down the field and into the red zone. Unfortunately, we couldn't convert this drive into points. However, the team remained undeterred.

The turning point of the game came on Trenton's next series. Braylin Barrett's tip on a pass led to Maguire Poole's interception, giving our offense excellent field position. The very next play, Bobby Rogers executed a brilliant play, throwing a backward pass to Braylin Barrett, who then connected with Brody Pearson, standing wide open in the end zone. The ensuing extra point by Daniel Ruiz was good, giving us a 7-0 lead.

Our defense continued to shine. On Trenton's next drive, Daniel Ruiz came off the edge and hit the quarterback, causing a strip sack that was swiftly recovered by McKay Young. This turnover helped us maintain our momentum and control of the game.

As the first quarter came to a close, Bobby Rogers unleashed a 34-yard pass to Braylin Barrett, showcasing the team's dynamic offensive capabilities. We retained possession as the second quarter began and, after a five-play drive, Rogers rushed for a five-yard touchdown, increasing our lead. Daniel Ruiz's reliable extra point kick extended our advantage to 14-0.

Trenton put together a 13-play drive on their next possession but was unable to convert it into points, leading to a punt. Our offense proceeded to embark on a nine-play drive that concluded with a 42-yard touchdown run by Bobby Rogers. Ruiz's extra point was good, and we would kick off with a 21-0 lead.

On the ensuing kickoff, Daniel Ruiz would execute a squib kick that was mishandled by the Tigers and gave us the ball with enough time for 2 plays. Neither would convert into points and we headed into halftime with a commanding 21-0 lead.

The second half began with a statement from our offense. A six-play drive ended with Rogers rushing for a four-yard touchdown, but the extra point was missed. Despite the missed kick, the Tomcats were in control, leading 27-0.

Our defense continued to dominate, forcing Trenton into another three-and-out. However, our next drive resulted in a fumble after a mix-up in the backfield, momentarily giving Trenton hope. But Bobby Rogers, who had a standout performance, quickly redeemed the Tomcats by forcing a fumble on the very next play. Garrett Kelly would hop on the fumble and give the Tomcats possession of the ball on their own 39-yard line.

Neither team would convert on their next drive which would bring us to the final drive of the game. The Tomcats put together a series of ten plays, with the final two plays being in victory formation, to run down the clock and secure a shutout victory.

This game marked the end of a successful season for the Tomcats, finishing with a 6-4 overall record and a 3-2 record in the district, securing a third-place finish. While the season has come to a close, the players and coaches are eager to build on this success and carry the momentum into the next year. The future looks bright for our football program, and the determination and resilience displayed in this final game set the stage for even greater achievements in the seasons to come.
