In a thrilling season opener, the Tomcats delivered a standout performance, overpowering the Cumby Trojans with a commanding 49-30 victory. Quarterback Donnie Hooten demonstrated his prowess by completing 22 of 28 passes for 258 yards and accounting for five touchdowns—four through the air and one on the ground. The Tomcats' offensive juggernaut didn't stop there; Bobby Rogers added two rushing touchdowns, while Brody Pearson and Hagen Darney each caught two touchdown passes.

The Tomcats' defense was equally impressive. Dallas Peavey and Bobby Rogers led the charge with 14 tackles apiece, while Ryan DeArmond and Maguire Poole contributed with 9 tackles each.
