The Lady Cats volleyball teams had a busy and action-packed week with games from September 3rd to September 6th. Here's a roundup of their performances and upcoming games.
September 3rd - JV & Varsity at Cumby
The Tom Bean Lady Cats JV squad faced the Cumby Lady Trojans on Tuesday, September 3rd. In the first set, the Lady Cats fought hard but eventually fell 16-25. However, they bounced back in the second set with a strong performance. Emily Ragsdale played a crucial role at the net, sparking the Lady Cats to a 25-19 victory. Bailey Daniel also made a significant impact with her serves, clinching the set.
The match proceeded to a decisive third set, which was played to 15 points. Despite an early lead thanks to Aly Low’s aggressive play, the Lady Cats couldn’t hold off a resilient Cumby team and lost the set 9-15.
The varsity team also went up against the Cumby Lady Trojans. The Lady Cats struggled in the first set, losing 13-25. They showed their resilience in the second set but narrowly missed out, falling 25-27. Rilee Bailey made notable contributions with crucial blocks at the net. In the final set, Tom Bean continued to fight but ultimately lost 16-25.
September 5th - Middle School vs. Sam Rayburn
On Thursday, September 5th, the Orange and Black middle school teams delivered impressive performances against Sam Rayburn. The Black team won decisively, taking the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-13. Addison O'Beir excelled with 5 aces, while several teammates contributed with four aces each.
The Orange team also showcased their skills, winning the first set 25-8 and the second set 25-13. Cady Farrell led the team with 8 aces, out of a total of 18 aces by the team. Blake Edwards and Kami Poole added pressure with five and three kills, respectively.
September 6th - JV & Varsity vs. Bonham
On Friday, September 6th, the Lady Cats high school teams faced Bonham. The varsity team started strong but ultimately fell to the Bonham Lady Warriors in three sets. They lost the first set 12-25, fought hard in the second set but were edged out 18-25, and narrowly lost the third set 23-25. Taylor Vick and Alyssa Kelly stood out with strong performances at the net.
The JV team also faced a tough match against the Bonham Lady Warriors, losing in two sets. The first set was closely contested, with the Lady Cats falling 23-25. Aly Low and Emily Ragsdale played pivotal roles at the net, while defensive specialists Krislyn Morales, Emory Edwards, and Dianne Flores made key contributions. The second set proved more challenging, leading to a quicker 10-25 loss.
Upcoming Matches
The Lady Cats middle school teams will play against Whitewright on Monday, September 9th. The high school teams will face S&S at home on Tuesday, September 10th, followed by a home game against North Hopkins on September 13th.
