The Lady Cats volleyball teams traveled to Grayson Christian to face off against the Lady Falcons on Tuesday (9/17) and hosted Texoma Christian on Friday (9/20).
In their matchup against the Grayson Christian Lady Falcons, the junior varsity Lady Cats put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell in two sets, with scores of 19-25 and 15-25. The first set saw a competitive spirit from Tom Bean, with Rayleigh Shipman and Aly Low stepping up to secure 10 points from their serves. Their strong performance kept the game within reach, but the Lady Cats couldn’t quite clinch the win. The second set proved more challenging as the Lady Falcons pulled away, yet the front row of the Lady Cats continued to push forward, demonstrating resilience throughout.
The varsity Lady Cats faced a tougher challenge, engaging in a hard-fought four-set match against the Lady Falcons. After dropping the first set 18-25, Sam Lind’s dominant serving kept the pressure on Grayson Christian, but it wasn’t enough to secure a win in the second set, which ended 14-25. Cori Peterson shone defensively, with four digs that set up key offensive plays. The tide turned in the third set, where the Lady Cats rallied to win 25-22, thanks to strong contributions from Brooklyn Varney, Taylor Vick, and Jaycee Allen. However, they couldn’t maintain the momentum, ultimately losing the fourth set 17-25. Despite the loss, Rilee Bailey’s presence at the net and the team’s overall effort highlighted their tenacity.
On Friday, the junior varsity Lady Cats bounced back in an impressive display against Texoma Christian, winning in two sets with scores of 25-8 and 26-24. The first set was a showcase of dominance, with Dianne Flores delivering eight consecutive serves and Olivia Noga making impactful plays at the net. The second set was a battle, but Bailey Daniel’s strong serving proved crucial in securing the win. Key performances from defensive specialist Krislyn Morales and setter Paislee Freeman helped maintain a well-rounded offensive strategy throughout the match.
In a thrilling five-set match against Texoma Christian, the varsity Lady Cats faced ups and downs. After losing the first set 15-25, the Lady Cats bounced back with a strong 25-21 victory in the second. The momentum continued into the third set with a decisive 25-14 win, showcasing their ability to regroup. However, the fourth set saw Texoma Christian retaliate, winning 25-18 and pushing the match to a fifth set. Unfortunately, the Lady Cats struggled in the final stretch, falling 3-15. Standout players included Taylor Vick, who excelled in a utility role, and Sam Lind, who led the team in kills and provided vital blocks. Cori Peterson’s defensive prowess and Jaycee Allen’s leadership in assists were instrumental in keeping the team competitive.
