Last week, the Tomcats faced off against the Prairiland Patriots. It was a week of electrifying performances and growth across all levels.
On Friday, September 20th, the varsity had an electrifying performance against the Prairiland Patriots, emerging victorious with a thrilling 34-27 win.
Bobby Rogers shone as a key player, not only scoring two rushing touchdowns but also making a significant impact on defense with an astounding 27 tackles. His relentless effort helped to stop the Patriots’ advances. Alongside Rogers, teammates Donnie Hooten and Garrett Kelly also contributed significantly to the offensive onslaught, each adding two touchdowns to the scoreboard. As the game approached its climax, Carter Mayo delivered a crucial sack late in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory for the Tomcats and sending their fans into a frenzy. This hard-fought win exemplified the team's resilience and teamwork, making for an unforgettable night under the lights.
On the JV level, the Tomcats also had a fantastic outing, dominating the Prairiland Patriots with a commanding 38-6 victory. The defense was particularly impressive, stifling the Patriots and preventing them from gaining any momentum throughout the game. Offensively, Paxton Parrish, Ethan Halpain, Slayton Farris, and Zach Chitwood each found the end zone, demonstrating the Tomcats’ balanced attack. Additionally, Cain Pearson made several key catches, contributing to the team’s overall offensive efficiency.
The Tomcats’ middle school team faced a more challenging matchup against a tough ground-and-pound offense. Despite falling 16-8, the team showed improvement from their previous game. Cam Burgess led the defense with numerous tackles and even forced a fumble. On the offensive side, the Tomcats spread the ball around effectively, with Cale Dick scoring the team’s lone touchdown after a well-executed drive down the field. Special teams stood out as a bright spot, successfully recovering two onside kicks—a testament to their hustle and teamwork.
Overall, it was a great weak for Tomcat football, with the varsity and junior varsity teams advancing to 4-0 and the middle school team making significant strides.
