On Tuesday, October 8th, the Lady Cats faced off against the Trenton Lady Tigers.
The Junior Varsity team lost in two sets, with scores of 20-25 and 21-25. Both sets were back-and-forth battles. Paislee Freeman led the offense with excellent court awareness and leading the team in kills. In the second set, Bailey Daniel took charge with her serves, while Dianne Flores made significant contributions defensively, helping keep the Lady Cats in the game.
The Varsity Lady Cats lost in three competitive sets with scores of 18-25, 18-25, and 19-25. Brooklyn Varney displayed her versatility and stepped up during big moments for her team. Sam Lind also made a strong impact with her serving.
On Friday night, October 11th, the Lady Cats faced off against Collinsville Lady Pirates.
The Junior Varsity team battled hard but ultimately fell short, losing in two sets. The first set was close, ending at 26-28, with Aly Low making significant contributions through her serving, as well as Krislyn Morales who led the team defensively.
The Varsity team lost in three sets with scores of 15-25, 16-25, and 9-25. Cori Peterson showcased her serving skills with an ace in the first set, while Jaycee Allen led the offense with two kills. In the second set, Taylor Vick stepped up with three kills, all assisted by Ryan Jones. Brooklyn Varney stood out defensively in the third set, making three digs to keep the ball alive.Overall, the Lady Cats accumulated 15 kills, 5 aces, and 34 digs throughout the match. While the results weren’t in their favor, the team showed a lot of growth for both teams.
The Lady Cats look ahead at their matchup against Whitewright on October 15th. This game will be varsity only starting at 5:00 PM.
