Round Rock, TX — McKenzie Bearden and Kami Poole turned heads at the highly competitive Cross Country State Preview Meet in Round Rock this past weekend, each shattering their personal records by more than a minute.
Racing against some of the top talent in Texas, both athletes delivered standout performances on the notoriously challenging Old Settlers Park course — the same course where the UIL State Championship will take place later this season.
Bearden, known for her strong finishes, clocked in with a time that sliced over 60 seconds off her previous best. Poole followed with an equally impressive showing, matching Bearden’s energy and grit to secure her own massive PR.
Their coach praised the duo's hard work and determination. “McKenzie and Kami have been grinding all season,” the coach said. “To see them both break through like this at such a key meet speaks volumes about their progress and potential.”
With this performance, Bearden and Poole have firmly placed themselves on the radar heading into the championship phase of the season. The momentum they’ve built in Round Rock could carry them to even greater heights come November.
